The European Commission Ratifies Greece's Visa Waiver for Turkish Citizens

In a significant development for Greco-Turkish relations, the European Commission has approved Greece's decision to grant visa-free access to Turkish citizens visiting 10 of its islands. This landmark decision was announced by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, emphasizing the move as a strong message of connection and friendship between the two nations.

During a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Athens, Mitsotakis highlighted the decision as a testament to the shared cultural and historical ties binding Greece and Turkey. The initiative allows Turkish citizens and their families to visit these enchanting Greek islands for up to seven days throughout the year, fostering closer ties and encouraging cultural exchange.

Further adding to the significance of this development, spokesperson for the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Ömer Çelik, indicated that the decision awaits formal notification. He also mentioned that the implementation of this visa exemption will be announced post the completion of necessary infrastructure preparations on these Greek islands.
